Film Description

Katowice, Poland, 1982. The communist government has imposed Martial Law to crush the Solidarity movement. Food shortages and political arrests are everyday occurrences. Against this backdrop, a teenager falls in love for the first time.

Filmmaker Information

Rafael Kapelinski was born in Torun, Poland. He completed his short film, EMILY CRIES, after training at the London Film School. EMILY CRIES won First Prize in the Independent Film section at the Gdynia Film Festival in 2006. Since then, the film has gone on to win numerous prizes at Polish film festivals and abroad. Rafael has a Master’s in American Literature from the University of Nicholas Copernicus in Torun, Poland and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle. His current film project, THE BALLAD ABOUT PIOTROWSKI, is currently in post-production.
