Film Description

DEFACE is the story of Sooyoung, a faceless worker in North Korea who stays quiet and follows the rules. But when his daughter dies of starvation, he is driven to vandalize the large propaganda posters that decorate the town. Sooyoung risks his life to deface the billboards, repainting the messages to reflect a more truthful take on contemporary North Korea. But when he sees his actions lead to the arrest of local innocents, he must question what ends his rebellious actions really serve.
