CATEGORIES, PRIZES, AND JUDGES

Entries are accepted in two categories: Feature Screenplay, 90-130 pages, and Short Screenplay, 30 pages or less.

Cash prizes will be awarded for Best Feature Screenplay ($600) and Best Short Screenplay ($400). Entrants will be honored and winners will be announced at a reception and awards ceremony during the 12th annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest, April 3-7, 2013 in Batesville, Arkansas.

Judges for the 2013 competition are Israeli filmmaker and screenplay editor Pola Zen (DOLLS AND HOUSES); Dawn Winkler, a screenwriter who holds an MFA from the renowned screenwriting program at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television; and filmmaker Mike Akel, writer and director of CHALK and AN ORDINARY FAMILY.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to screenwriters who have had no previous screenplays produced, optioned, or distributed by non-independent means.

Screenplays must be the original work of the author. No adaptations -- unless you are adapting your own work.

Writers must be 18 years of age or older or have a parent or guardian sign the entry form.

Submissions must be originally written in English. No translations from another language into English.

Entries must be submitted electronically to bobpest@wildblue.net. Work should be submitted as a PDF, a Microsoft Word file, or a WordPerfect file. Hard copy entries will not be accepted.

Collaborative work is eligible; winners are responsible for the division of any prize.

There is no limit to the number of entries, but each entry must be accompanied by an entry form and fee.

Works containing pornographic elements will not be accepted.

ENTRY FEE

Each entry must be accompanied by an entry form and a $20 entry fee in the form of a personal check or cashier's check, payable to Ozark Foothills FilmFest.

Entry forms must be completed and typed or printed clearly. Mail the entry form and fee as soon as possible after submitting your screenplay via email. Send your form and fee to Ozark Foothills FilmFest, 195 Peel Road, Locust Grove, AR 72550.

DEADLINE

Electronically submitted entries and mailed entry forms and fees must be received or postmarked by December 1, 2012. Once submitted, no subsequent revisions or additional pages will be accepted.

FORMAT REQUIREMENTS

DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME OR ADDRESS ANYWHERE on the cover, title page, or any place else in or on the script so that the reader does not know the name or gender of the screenwriter. Scripts with names will be delayed in judging and may be disqualified.

NO NON-STANDARD SCRIPTS, shooting scripts, teleplays, shorts, novels, or short stories.

NO ADDITIONAL MATERIALS, including but not limited to illustrations, letters, synopses, musical scores, audio cassettes or CDs, cast lists, clippings, and resumes, may be included with your submission.
